I make jewellery using coloured porcelain.  These are unique pieces, each one is individual yet the way the colours and shapes are used gives a unity to the range.

The porcelain is unglazed giving a soft matt finish that has a stone-like appearance and a feel something like hard felt.  It is high-fired so although very fine and with the appearance of delicacy, the jewellery is very strong.

Clay that has minerals and oxides added to it to give colour, then mixed to give a variety of effects that are mostly like marble or stone, is often termed agate ware.  There is more information about this on the Making Process page.  After firing, the pieces which I term shards are assembled into jewellery using mainly silver or silver plated findings (the rings, clasps, etc).

My jewellery is available by contacting me direct, or visiting one of the craft galleries that stock my work.
